What is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)?

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a model of couples therapy developed by Dr. Sue Johnson which has incorporated the science of attachment and research on intimate bonding. Empirical studies find that 70-75% of couples move from distress to recovery and approximately 90% show significant improvements through the EFT model.

What is an Externship?

The Externship is an experiential seminar in which participants gain an in-depth overview of the basic concepts and theory of the EFT model through a combination of engaging presentations, videos, and observation of live sessions and exercises. Particiants will learn the stages and steps of treatment; identify problematic cycles of interaction; and gain strategies/interventions that can be immediately implemented in their couples counseling. Also, the Externship is the first step toward becoming a Certified EFT Therapist.
